This Green tea shows off the distinct qualities of teas from the Bolaven Plateau, which runs along the Laos' Eastern Border with Vietnam. The area is known for its rich, volcanic heritage, vast mountains, wild tea forests, cascading waterfalls, endless rivers, and suspected meteor crater.
This tea echoes some of the savoury characteristics of the region's other crops like corn, pepper, and ginger. The biodiverse tea gardens with fertile, volcanic soil, teeming with a multitude of different plants and animals, benefit from droplets of water that rise from a nearby waterfall. Grown alongside coffee, some of the tea bushes have been planted over 70 years ago.
After plucking and withering, this tea is gently massaged to coax it into releasing the aromatic juices within the call walls while keeping its leaves intact. A short roast over wood-fire gives it its ever so subtle smoky finish.
