This tea is grown in the mountains of Xaysathan District on the Thai border, near an area where some of Laos' last wild elephants roam. It is made from a special variety of ancient tea which was planted 200 to 300 years ago by the Phrai ethnic group, who bought the tea tree seeds when they migrated to this district from Northern Siam.

This tea is derived from the 2 youngest leaves and bud of the ancient trees. The local community process it in small batches and sun-bake it to perfection.

The resulting liquid is an arbour red liquid with a smooth and round flavour profile, that has a thick mouthfeel delivering spice, fruit, and notes of brown sugar.
